EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
A Degree in Law conferred or recognized by the Universities in Kerala.
Must be a member of the Bar and must have had not less than three years of active practice in Criminal Courts as on the date of application.
AGE LIMIT
A candidate must be a between the age of 22 to 36.

Written Examination ( Multiple Choice Type Questions)
PLAN AND SYLLABUS FOR WRITTEN EXAMINATION
It will consist of three parts.
Total Marks of examination will be 100 and the number of questions will also be 100.
Part I : Degree in Law (80 Marks)
1. Legal Concepts (5 Marks)
Person under law- Natural and legal personality- legal status of animals, unborn and dead person-corporate personality-corporate criminal liability- Concept of property- kinds of property and modes of acquisition- concept of ownership and possession- concept and kinds of rights- State- it’s essential elements and kinds of state.
2. Criminology and Penology (5 Marks)
Crime causation factors- positive school of criminology- Lombroso, Enrico Ferri and Tarde- Crime and Sociology- Poverty and Crime- Differential Association Theory- White Collar Crimes- theories of punishment- reformative and rehabilitative techniques- kinds of punishments under Indian Penal Code (BNS)- Capital Punishment and its Constitutional validity- prison labour- parole.
3. General Principles of Crime (5 Marks)
Crime and its definition- actus res- voluntary act- act caused in negligence- distinction between tort and crime- mens rea- its levels under Indian Penal Code (BNS) - inchoate crimes- common intention- criminal conspiracy- criminal attempt- abetment.
4. General Exceptions under IPC/ BNS provisions accordingly (10 Marks)
Chapter IV of the Indian Penal Code- mistake of facts- judicial acts- accidents- acts of infancy and insanity- consent and duress – trifles- private defence- other excusable and justifiable acts- judicial interpretation of general exceptions.
5. Offences against Human Body / BNS provisions accordingly (5 Marks)
Culpable homicide and murder-causing death by negligence- dowry death and suicide- causing miscarriage- hurt and grievous hurt- acid attack- abduction- offences against modesty of a woman-rape and unnatural offences- Criminal Law Amendment 2013 and its implications- relevant special legislations on sexual abuse against children and sexual harassment of woman at workplace – judicial responses.
6. Offences against Property and Other Offences (10 Marks)
Offence of theft, extortion, robbery and dacoity- criminal misappropriation of property- breach of trust- receiving stolen property- cheating- mischief- criminal trespass- forgery- perjury- offences affecting public nuisance- offences against State- offences against religion and marriage- obscenity.
7. Criminal Justice Administration/ BNSS provisions accordingly (10 Marks)
Purpose of criminal justice administration- classes of criminal courts and its jurisdiction in India-public prosecutors and their role- executive magistrates- organization of police and its powers-classification of offences- cognizable and non-cognizable- bailable and non- bailable- victim protection under Indian legal system- remedies of appeal, revision and inherent powers of high court- bail and anticipatory bail
8. Criminal Investigation and Trial/ BNSS provisions accordingly (10 Marks)
Inquiry and investigation- fairness in investigation- private complaint- FIR- arrest and procedural safeguards- search and seizure- issuance of warrant- private complaint- Discharge and framing of charge- trial of summons and warrant cases- sessions trial- compounding of offences- plea bargaining- trial of child offenders- in camera proceedings- judgment- sentencing policy and judge’s discretion- execution of sentence- suspension and commutation of sentences- probation of offenders.
9. Principles of Evidence/ BSA Provisions accordingly (10 Marks)

10. Constitutional Rights of the Accused and Arrested (10 Marks)
