
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
The candidate must posses law degree from any recognized university upto the last date for receipt of application.
AGE LIMIT
As of August 1, 2026:
Minimum age 21 years;
Maximum age—Unreserved (Male): 37 years; Backward Classes / Extremely Backward Classes (Male & Female) and Unreserved Women: 40 years; and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Male & Female): 42 years.
Plan for Preliminary Examination:
The question papers shall be available in both Hindi and English languages.
The duration of each paper shall be two hours, and 100 questions shall be asked in each paper.
The Preliminary Examination shall consist of the following two papers:

Syllabus for Asst. Prosecution Officer Preliminary Examination
The syllabus for the Preliminary Examination shall be as follows:
(a) Paper I – General Studies – This paper will comprise questions related to General Knowledge (including awareness of current events), General Science, Indian History and Culture, Indian Polity, and Geography—specifically those questions which a candidate can answer without specialized study.
(b) Paper II – Law – This paper will include questions pertaining to the Indian Nyaya Sanhita, 2023; the Indian Evidence Act, 2023; the Indian Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023; the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908; and a fundamental knowledge of the Constitution of India.
Plan for Asst. Prosecution Officer Mains Examination
It shall be mandatory to secure the following minimum qualifying marks in the Preliminary Examination: 40% (forty percent) for the General Category; 36.5% (thirty-six and a half percent) for the Backward Classes; 34% (thirty-four percent) for the Extremely Backward Classes; and 32% (thirty-two percent) for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Female, and Differently-abled candidates.
Descriptive questions will be asked in the main examination.
The duration of examination for each paper will be of three hours.

Syllabus for Asst. Prosecution Officer Mains Examination
Paper I – General Studies: This paper will comprise questions on General Knowledge (including awareness of current events), General Science, Indian History and Culture, Indian Polity, and Geography—specifically those questions which a candidate can answer without specialized study.
Paper II – Hindi Language: The standard of this paper shall be equivalent to that of the Hindi curriculum intended for candidates who have studied Hindi continuously from Class IV onwards in the Secondary Examination conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board.
The minimum qualifying marks for this paper shall be 30; failure to secure these marks will result in the candidate being deemed ineligible for the written examination.
Paper III – English Language: This examination will assess the candidates' ability to express their thoughts clearly and accurately in simple English, as well as their capacity for easy comprehension of English texts on familiar topics.
The minimum qualifying marks for this paper shall be 30; failure to secure these marks will result in the candidate being deemed ineligible for the written examination.

(b) Explosive Substances Act, 1908

(d) Chapter 11 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (The Information Technology Act, 2000, Chapter-11)
(e) Chapter-VI and VIII of Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016 (as amended Bihar Act-8, 2018 and Bihar Act 10, 2020)
(f) Bihar Prohibition and Excise Rules, 2021 and 2022
(g) Bihar Police Act, 2007
(h) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988
(i) Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989
(j) POCSO Act, 2012
The level of questions of the subjects mentioned at serial number (d) to (h) will be the same as that of the law exam of Patna University. Scheduled for graduation exam.
Interview:- 100 marks are prescribed for interview.
Only those candidates will be called for the interview who, in subjects other than Hindi and English, secure the minimum qualifying marks prescribed for various categories of candidates in the written examination—
General Category – 40%; Backward Classes – 36.5%; Extremely Backward Classes – 34%; and Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Women, and Differently-abled candidates – 32%.
